We are closely monitoring the rapid state and national developments regarding COVID-19, and we are committed to providing our clients with ongoing government relations support. As the number of known local cases grows, our elected leaders are responding. Governor Larry Hogan has instituted extraordinary measures to help protect the citizens of our State.
The Maryland General Assembly adjourned the 2020 session Wednesday, March 18 – nearly three weeks ahead of schedule. This unprecedented action in our state is believed to be the first of its kind since the Civil War.
Senate President Ferguson and House Speaker Jones plan to hold a special legislative session at the end of May. Only time and cooperation among all Marylanders will tell if that is achievable.
As legislators return to their home districts upon adjournment, rest assured that you will have the full benefit of our considerable relationships with them. Our State Capital may be quieter for the foreseeable future, but we will continue to advocate for you and provide ongoing legislative updates as well as information on the ground to keep you well- informed.
For now, our office remains open. In an abundance of caution, we have limited all visitor access to our offices and may soon transition to telework as recommended or required by the state or federal government. In the case that we do transition to telework, our team will remain available via phone and email, and will continue to work on behalf of our clients regardless of their location.
If our office must close, our clients may connect with us in the following ways:
- Phone – Our entire team will be available by phone. All incoming calls to office lines will answered by our staff and messages will be forwarded to our cell phones.
- Email – Our entire team will be checking email on a regular basis.
- In Person – As of this time, as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and government agencies, we have rescheduled all in-person meetings to videoconference or teleconference.
The health and safety of our employees and clients is our top priority, and we will keep you abreast of new information as it becomes available. Please know that our team is committed to providing you with ongoing government relations support throughout the duration of this public health crisis.
