Nearly 350 bills were signed into law by Maryland Governor Wes Moore on May 16th, the final post-session bill-signing day. Read the press release from the Governor’s office.

Notable legislation includes:

  • The Center for Firearm Violence Prevention and Intervention
  • The Mental Health – Emergency Evaluation and Involuntary Admission Procedures and Assisted Outpatient Treatment Act
  • The Victim Compensation Reform Act
  • The Growing Apprenticeships and the Public Safety Workforce (GAPS) Act
  • The Pava LaPere Legacy of Innovation Act

 

Maryland Matters: Moore signs bills to tighten juvenile justice, expand gun safety measures

Additional bills were also signed on May 4th. Among those signed:

  • The ENOUGH Act
  • The Critical Infrastructure Streamlining Act
  • The Transparent Government Act
  • The Horse Racing-Racing Facility Ownership and Construction Racing Operations Bill

 

On May 15th, Governor Moore and the Board of Public Works approved an agreement to transfer ownership of Pimlico Race Course to the State of Maryland – just days before the 149th running of the Preakness.

In addition, Moore signed a measure known as the Maryland Kids Code, aimed at protecting online data, especially any collected on children.
