Understanding State Procurement in Maryland – Event Recap and Webinar Recording Now Available

Procurement Webinar

Through years of working together, the team at Old Line Government Affairs has developed strong relationships with Maryland’s procurement experts, including liaisons to the Board of Public Works. Given our state’s one-of-a-kind procurement system and the unique role played by the Board of Public Works in approving certain government contracts, Old Line’s Senior Director of Government Relations Joe Miedusiewski and Managing Director Brett Lininger moderated a webinar on March 12, 2021, to provide a behind-the-scenes look at the state procurement process. Our panel included:

  • Bob Gleason, Chief Procurement Officer for Maryland
  • Valerie Radomsky, Board of Public Works Liaison to the Governor’s Office
  • Joanna Kille, Assistant for Public Policy and Board of Public Works Liaison for the State Treasurer’s Office
  • Anne Klase, Assistant Comptroller

Many thanks to our panelists – or as American Joe calls them, the “procurement brain trust” – for taking the time to provide their insights.

From startups looking for additional revenue opportunities, to technology, construction and healthcare companies with valuable services to offer state agencies, doing business with the State of Maryland can be a profitable venture. Having the professional advice, guidance and connections provided by Old Line Government Affairs can help make it possible to not only earn and protect hard-earned contracts, but also to significantly increase government business potential.

Highlights from our panelists:

Bob Gleason, Chief Procurement Officer for Maryland, on thinking “beyond the box” to provide goods and services to the state. His goal is to make Maryland the customer of choice for suppliers that live and work here.

Joanna Kille, Assistant for Public Policy and Board of Public Works Liaison for the State Treasurer’s Office, on transparency, perspective and complexities.

Valerie Radomsky, Board of Public Works Liaison to the Governor’s Office, on schedules and obtaining information before Board meetings.

Anne Klase, Maryland’s Assistant Comptroller, on ensuring the Board of Public Works does right by constituents, not just in a fiscal sense.
