GOVERNOR LARRY HOGAN PRESS CONFERENCE: JUNE 15, 2021

  • 3,000 points of vaccine distribution in MD
  • Administered 6.5 million COVID vaccines
  • Met and exceeded goal of 70% of adults vaccinated by Memorial Day
  • More than 72% of 18+ Marylanders and 90% of 65+ Marylanders have been vaccinated
  • Infection rate is declining
    • In January our positivity rate was under 6%
    • Today, it’s at 0.82%- the lowest since the pandemic began, and lower than 43 other states
    • Today we are at 1.57 cases per 100,000
    • Lowest since first days of pandemic
    • Second lowest rate in America
    • Today, hospitalizations are below 200
  • End of the COVID-19 State of Emergency in MD
    • July 1 – any and all mandates will end
    • No masks required anywhere
    • Business and other workplaces can set their own policies, but no legal State mandate
    • 45-day grace period begins July 1 as well- certain regulations will be relaxed in order to complete the transition out of the pandemic
    • Additional 45 days to renew your driver’s license
    • Granting extension of moratorium on evictions
  • Does NOT mean the threat of infection is gone
  • Get vaccinated! “There is no excuse”
  • GoVax Summer Tour continues
    • Partnering with MLB and Orioles to vaccinate more people
    • Anyone who gets vaccinated at Camden Yards will get 2 O’s tickets
    • Lottery promotion still going on (until July 4)
  • Will not discourage kids from wearing masks in schools
