Lawmakers have marked the end of another legislative session in Maryland, and through the proposals and concessions, the committee hearings and discussions, the 2025 session has been dominated by concerns about the budget.
Going down to wire, the Maryland General Assembly passed a budget on Sine Die – the last day of the legislative session – April 7, 2025.
Meanwhile, other bills that have been passed by both the House and the Senate and will go to Governor Wes Moore for final review. Bills that made it across the finish line cover areas ranging from healthcare and prison sentences to education and the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future, energy and reparations for slavery.
On the final day of session, some bills even addressed a state cocktail – the Orange Crush – as well as the state mineral, Chromite. Bills on the state fruit and carnivorous plant didn’t pass, however.
