With the departure of Senator Melony G. Griffith to become CEO of the Maryland Hospital Association, several changes are ahead for committee positions in the Maryland General Assembly.

Senator Pamela Beidle will become chair of the Senate Finance Committee, replacing Griffith. She will no longer serve as chair of the Senate Executive Nominations Committee.

Senator Alonzo Washington moves from the Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee to the Senate Finance Committee.

Senator Antonio Hayes will become chair of the Executive Nominations Committee.

Senator Joanne C. Benson will replace Hayes to become the new Majority Whip.

Senator Shelly Hettleman will replace Benson as the new chair of the Senate Rules Committee.

Senator Clarence Lam will become vice chair of the Executive Nominations Committee.

Senator Michael A. Jackson will become vice chair of the Senate Democratic Caucus.

Senator Anthony Muse becomes the new vice chair of the Senate Rules Committee and fills Griffith’s seat on the Executive Nominations Committee.

The Prince George’s County Democratic Central Committee will recommend a successor for Senator Griffith and Governor Wes Moore will ultimately name her replacement.
