With the 2025 Legislative Session now in the rear window, some laws passed by the Maryland General Assembly are now effective as of June 1, 2025. Of note are laws that regulate electricity bills, punishments for DUI convictions and payouts for child abuse victims.
One law that is getting plenty of attention is the selection of Orange Crush as Maryland’s state cocktail. Not many other states have official cocktails, though Delaware also selected the Orange Crush as it’s drink in 2024. Many states have selected milk as the official state drink. Meanwhile, Chromite was selected as the state mineral, dedicated to the state’s rich mining history, especially in Harford, Baltimore, and Cecil counties.
More laws will go into effect on July 1, 2025.
