Describing her district as “Maryland in miniature,” Senator Shelly Hettleman is proud to represent the same place where she herself grew up. “I now represent my elementary, middle and high school,” she says.
Senator Hettleman has always worked in and around politics, and says the shift towards public office was natural. A passionate domestic violence activist, Senator Hettleman has helped pass legislation surrounding the issue of untested rape kits.
